Pasture Manager Position at Masefield Grazing Ltd.
Masefield Grazing Ltd. is accepting applications for the Pasture Manager position to start work December 1, 2024. This is a full time, year round position.
Masefield Grazing Ltd. is located 15 miles (24km) south of Val Marie, SK. on Highway # 4. Pasture headquarters are adjacent to the highway. Masefield Grazing Ltd. grazes 1125 cow/calf pairs on 37,000 acres and also runs a corporation bull battery with 35-40 bulls wintered on site at the headquarters.
The successful candidate will posses:
-in-depth knowledge of cattle and grass management
-knowledge of care and winter feeding of bull battery
-experience as a working cowboy
-supply suitable horses and tack
-valid driver’s license
-supply truck and stock trailer as well as quad or side by side
-must have supervisory skills
-ability to work independently and provide instruction and support to 1 full time seasonal employee
Duties include but not limited to:
-maintain grazing records of cattle and bull battery, as well as cattle numbers in/out as required by the Board
-maintain all other records that are required by the Ministry of Agriculture
-continually monitor herd health, identify/treat sick cattle and maintain accurate health records
-monitor grass and water conditions and move cattle as needed
-repair and maintain fences, corrals, Headquarters yard and buildings as well as tractor and equipment that belong to the corporation
-distribution of salt and mineral
This is a contract position and compensation will be based on experience. Private accident insurance is provided. Housing and utilities will be supplied as part of compensation.
